...because I'm tired of yelling at the radio or waiting on hold with a talk radio show for 45 mnutes just to have the topic change or the show end before I can vent or offer a common sense perspective. I've also been ahead of the curve (or at least ahead of my favorite talk show guy Glenn Beck) on a couple of analogies or insights lately.
1) About six months ago I was listening to Hilary Clinton screech about some issue, probably the war, when I thought to myself "She'll never get elected because she sounds like every divorced man's ex-wife". Mr. Beck said the same thing about four months later.
2) About a month before the VT shootings I commented to my wife that our society has become narcissistic. Again about a month later Mr. Beck is saying the exact same thing.
If I'm that far ahead of Beck who's probably pulling down at least seven figures then I can at least try my hand at blabbing to others and see where it gets me.

True- You cannot fix everyone. Some people just aren't ready to be helped as silly as it may sound. Some people have been through tragedy/drama that they don't know whats its like to live without that tension in their lives and are afraid of what it may be like without that feeling.
Also your comment about putting others first will shrink your own problems is not necessarily true. You may think your own problems are being "resolved" by ignoring your own and focusing on someone else but are your problems really being alleviated? Its ok and acceptable to put your feelings first and it doesn't have to turn into a pity party. I think it goes back to the chicken and the egg incident. Should you resolve your problems first before you can resolve others? I think its healthy to focus on oneself. Anyway, you did the best you could today with your client. You are a success and should be proud!
Hi Matt ... this comment is actually about your profile, but there's no place to comment on the profile, so here goes.
Like yourself, I think Liberals are a bunch of commie wackos that are out to deliberately destroy America, but ... the phrase "liberal arts" has nothing to do with political liberalism. The "libre" in liberal arts refers to the idea that "these are the subjects that a free people should study."
On the other hand, perhaps it no longer makes a difference, considering that our educators at every level are, by and large, a bunch of leftoid commies that are trying to ruin our children by pushing their anti-American propaganda at them as if it were fact...
